Solovair Men’s Shoes

Solovair takes immense pride in its heritage, with over a century of experience shaping its perspectives, processes, and work ethic. This legacy exemplifies the essence of British craftsmanship. Solovair men’s shoes are all made using the Goodyear-welting method, a technique that is now a hallmark of their production process.

The tale of shoemaking in Northamptonshire, England, dates back to the 13th century. This rich history blossomed due to the plentiful supply of oak bark, an abundance of water, and ready access to materials such as leather from local cattle markets, as well as a central trading position within the country.

In the 1950s, Dr Maertens and his associate, Dr Herbert Funck, pioneered the now-iconic air-cushioned sole. R. Griggs and Company Ltd., holders of the rights to this innovative technology, sought reliable local factories for production, and NPS was a natural choice. By 1959, they crafted some sample boots with these air-cushioned soles for Griggs’ factory.

For 35 fruitful years, NPS manufactured Solovair (sole-of-air) boots and shoes under licence, marketed as ‘Dr Martens by Solovair.’

As times have evolved, NPS has ceased producing footwear under licence, yet they remain committed to upholding their independence and high-quality standards. In 1994, they registered the name Solovair, ensuring that the footwear continues to reflect the relentless pursuit of superior quality.

Today, their products boast enhancements like ‘Soft Suspension’ soles, elevating both comfort and durability.
